Artwork | Fused Glass

The Greeks and Romans would love to have had our modern technology that we use to fuse glass today, back in their time. Glass fusing is the process of using a kiln to join together pieces of glass. As you apply heat to glass it softens and melts, and the pieces fuse together. If you continue to apply heat the glass will become more fluid and flow together until you slowly cool it down when it becomes one solid piece. If you reheat this fused piece of glass at a lower temperature, you can then “slump” the glass into or over a mold to take on the shape of a bowl, dish or whatever you have as a mold.

Coming up with a design for your piece of glass can take as long as your imagination wants to work. Each piece is unique and only your imagination and creative juices are the deciding factor of what you get.

Many pieces are created as functional art items to be used in everyday life such as fruit bowls etc. Specialty pieces designed to stretch your imagination are limited only by your creativity and kiln size. It can become the focal point in your office, home or business.
